Nelson’s Tour Company
Day Out is a recent provider to the tour business at the northern end of South Island, New Zealand. We are headquartered in Nelson, New Zealand’s sunniest city in the region New Zealanders like to holiday.
Our aim is to offer a luxury tour experience, our vehicles being European models chosen for their leg room and fittings. We want our guests to leave us at the end of the tour refreshed and delighted, having had the very best of holiday experiences, enjoyed at competitive rates.
After a very successful first season during the summer of 2018/2019, where Day Out hosted many guests from around the world on a range of tours, we received only positive reviews. Great! With the experience gained we were able to better define what we as hosts could do for guests who visit the region to ensure a true enjoyment and appreciation of this unique part of the world. We are all very excited about the decisions we have made and the tours we are now offering guests in our new Tour Library.
Whether you want to visit some of the world’s best vineyards and taste and compare wines within a region, explore the deep valleys of the Southern Alps where the rivers rush and the trees are alive to birdsong, visit some of the many artisans who have settled here from around the world and are selling their work globally, or just sit back with a beer in one of the many craft breweries – we have something for everyone! Day Out also tours those places visitors would not normally reach without the aid of a guide or a 4WD vehicle.
Our Mercedes Benz and BMW vehicles are driven by guides who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about New Zealand’s South Island, have lots to tell you and know their way around.
Day Out can conduct tours throughout South Island, though with a focus on the region known as the ‘Top of the South’, where we are based. Some tours can be started or finished in Blenheim or Picton and we will even go as far as Christchurch for a guest who has chosen a private exclusive tour option and wishes to start or finish their tour there.
Holidays can be a dirty business with the generation of significant carbon emissions as we travel around the world and visit different places. To ensure your time with Day Out leaves no carbon footprint, we work with a carbon offset company that calculates our total carbon output and from whom we then buy Carbon Credits that are used to plant new, and regenerate existing, New Zealand native forests, home to so many unique bird species. We want to ensure our emissions are not added to the atmospheric load.
